So I just got back from Vegas and I can tell you there is nothing in the world like Las Vegas. The lights, the action the sense of decadence, glamour and consumption fill the casinos; paging Marty Rosenthal, phone call for Mr. Rosenthal. I can only imagine what it must have been like 20 years ago when a bunch of MIT kids came in there to scam the blackjack tables. Apparently this movie, “21” is based on this true story; although in reality the kids were Korean.

Blackjack is just not that easy. There are so many distractions, from the big boobed waitresses with the free drinks to the old timers at every table with advice for every situation. Every time I hit on a hard twelve I busted. Every time I was ahead I would just bet more trying to speed up the process of money for nothing, and that’s how I lost my loot. Luckily on the last night, when I scavenged the ATM for whatever was left, we met some people at the bar, had a laugh and they paid for our drinks and left. I say it was lucky because it had gotten so late by that point that the ante’s for all the tables had doubled and we were priced out, so we saved our money to blow again another day.

But the 21 movie made it look really, really easy. It seems like a great movie and it has that guy from “Across the Universe”, the best movie nobody every saw.
